Alex Stout
Engineer · troubleshooter · dad · Salt Lake Valley, UT
I’m a software engineer in the Salt Lake Valley who’s basically incapable of leaving a problem alone. If something’s broken or confusing — a dryer, a deployment, a dependency no one understands — I want to know why.
That curiosity built the career: 13+ years of hardware-software systems, the Goal Zero app, the connected Yeti power stations, and now leading applied AI at BioLite / Goal Zero. The modern twist is that I run almost everything with an AI assistant in the loop now — reading schematics, sanity-checking ideas, moving way faster than I used to. Few engineers have that reflex yet. I do.
At home it looks the same: a house full of sensors, a multimeter in the drawer, and a kid or two looking over my shoulder. The work history’s on /experience.
